Iceland – The Golden Circle Tour.

The weather was pretty awful when we got up but for some reason our tour went ahead.   All the other companies cancelled the night before.   Upside – not as many tourists.   Downside –  OMG the wind chill.   Blowing ice and snow into our faces – it felt like lots of little razors blades striking.   And the big dump of snow they were expecting came and blocked the mountain pass – which added an extra 2 hours of travel to what was already a very long day.

The tour was actually quite interesting and the history of Iceland is fascinating.   If you look closely some of the houses have areas for trolls, dwarves and elves to live in peace.   Some were a bit more ornate than others.   Unfortunately I only saw them from the bus as we were moving so couldn’t get a photos of them.  The Lord of the Rings, and also the Game of Thrones owe a lot to Icelandic history.

The waterfall. It was snowing and windy but spectacular all the same. I'm no featherweight and the wind blew me along the ice.
