Big Bear Lake

A very uneventful flight got me to LA.   I finally caught up with my friend at the hotel late in the evening.  I’d spent the afternoon at Santa Monica beach. There were road works on the street the hotel was and the diversions sent me everywhere but where I needed to be.   We had to return the car I’d rented back to the depot near the airport the next morning.   And again we spent a lot of time driving around – we saw a lot (LOT) of LA.  It would have been more enjoyable if we had planned it and could get out and look around.   2 1/2 hours later the car was returned and we were on our way.  We’ve had a wander around the Ontario Mills outlet mall, shoes acquired, I only had sandals and boots with me.  Then the drive to Big Bear Lake.   Beautiful but rugged scenery.  Big Bear township is lovely, but seems to be permanently set up for Christmas.   It would be spectacular in the snow.   We checked the map last night and realised we are miles in the wrong direction from where we are actually meant to be so a long drive today up to Sacramento.

  1. Looks like you are destined not to see the bears. Have a safe drive to Sacramento.
