Stats & Lyme Park

Some stats for you.  My brother commented that this was the slowest pub crawl on record.  He may have a point looking at the travel stats.  Since we moved on-board, 105 days ago, we have to date:

Travelled  255 miles, done 248 locks, 8 tunnels (3 of them twice), replaced the toilet, the fridge, the washing machine and 2 out of 3 batteries – all of them failed and were irrepairable.  The gear box was replaced prior to us moving on-board – it had also failed but was picked up in the survey.

We finally made it to Lyme Park today.  The exterior was used as Pemberly, Mr Darcy’s home in the BBC’s adaptation of Pride & Prejudice.  Currently they have a giant Mr Darcy launching out of the pond, he will be there until February 2014 if you are interested.  We caught the local bus, which drops you at the front gate, it’s 1.5 miles of driveway before you get to the home.   There is a substantial herd of deer but there were storms on the way so we gave them a miss.   We can always go back, there is a lot of walking to be had.  Lots of tourists dressed in Edwardian clothing as well.  They were invited to do it a couple of years ago as a promotion and it has just taken.

Will stay here at Bugsworth Basin for a couple more days, trying to arrange a catch-up with UK Sista this weekend.
