Surprising Singapore

Lots of building work going on in Singapore – at least that is what it looks like on the way in. We are staying at the Swissotel for a couple of nights before we head home. Apart from the obvious culture shock, this hotel is unbelievable. The concierge called
us by name as we got out of the cab from the airport – lucky guess maybe but impressive none the less. We went for a walk looking for a bus stop but ended up walking through a huge mall. Could of saved ourselves the trouble as the hotel is immediately above a shopping centre. It’s like living at Shopping Town. We even have a Marks & Spencers (I’m easily amused). Tomorrow we are doing the jump on and off bus around Singapore, then night safari at the zoo. Dinner tonight – a shared pizza and a shared bottle of cider – cost 8 times what it cost us for 2 courses and 2 beers EACH in Vietnam.
