2 November – Warwick to Southam

Late start this morning as we all stayed in bed.   Finally left at 9.00 am and straight into the first lock of the day.   Hadn’t gone very far before we stopped for a Tesco top up.  As we were making good time we stopped at Leamington Spa for a walk and a coffee.  It was market day so after lots of sampling we headed back to the boat.  Stayed a bit longer in Leamington than we thought which has put us a bit behind time.  Headed onwards as we were hoping to make it to the start of the Stockton flight but the locks were very slow and heavy and the crew were getting very tired.  Very few other boats travelling now.  it was a very grey damp day and was just getting too dark to travel any further on.   Stopped at the Welsh Road West lock keepers cottage for the night.

Weather:   Grey and damp all day.
